Air Fryer Toaster Oven
Ingredients
1 package refrigerated pie crust (2 crusts)
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon water
Coarse sugar (optional, for topping)
Directions
Preheat the Air Fryer Toaster Oven Preheat your BELLA Air Fryer Toaster Oven to 375°F on the Air Fry mode. This ensures an even bake for perfectly golden crusts.
Prepare the Filling In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine blueberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Stir until the blueberries soften and the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Let it cool completely before using.
Assemble the Hand Pies
Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface. Use a 4-inch round cutter to cut out circles (about 8 total).
Place 1 tablespoon of the blueberry filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges with a fork to seal.
Cut small slits on the top of each pie to allow steam to escape.
Add the Egg Wash In a small bowl, whisk the egg and water together. Brush the tops of the pies with the egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar for a crunchy finish.
Bake in the Air Fryer Toaster Oven Arrange the hand pies on the Air Fry basket or tray, ensuring they don’t overlap. Bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes, or until the pies are golden brown.
Cool and Serve Let the hand pies cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature.
Tips (Optional):
For extra flaky crusts, refrigerate the assembled pies for 10 minutes before baking.
Experiment with different fillings like apple, cherry, or peach for variety.
If using frozen blueberries, thaw and drain them to avoid excess moisture.
