Velvety Stovetop Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

Small Batch (2 Servings)

  • 2 cups whole milk (or milk of choice)

  • 2 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate, finely chopped

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

  • Optional toppings: Mini marshmallows, whipped cream, or chocolate shavings

Large Batch (4-6 Servings)

  • 6 cups whole milk (or milk of choice)

  • 6 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate, finely chopped

  • ¼ cup cocoa powder

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

  • Optional toppings: Mini marshmallows, whipped cream, or chocolate shavings

Directions

  • Heat the Milk:

    • In the bella 2qt or 5qt saucepan, gently heat the milk over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.

  • Whisk in Cocoa Powder and Sugar:

    • Sift the cocoa powder into the saucepan and whisk until fully dissolved. Add the sugar and stir until combined.

  • Melt the Chocolate:

    • Reduce heat to low and add the chopped chocolate. Stir constantly until the chocolate has melted completely and the mixture is smooth and creamy.

  • Add Vanilla and Salt:

    • Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt for depth of flavor.

  • Serve:

    • Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Top with mini marshmallows, whipped cream, or chocolate shavings for an extra indulgent touch.
