Margherita Pizza with Fresh Basil and Cherry Tomatoes

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast

  • ¾ cup warm water (about 110°F)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the toppings:

  • ½ cup pizza sauce or crushed San Marzano tomatoes

  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella, torn into pieces

  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved

  • Fresh basil leaves (about 10–12 leaves)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for drizzling)

  • Pinch of sea salt

Directions

  • Prepare the Dough In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  • Shape the Dough Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer to a floured pizza peel or parchment-lined tray for easy transfer.

  • Add the Toppings Spread pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border. Scatter torn mozzarella evenly across the pizza. Add halved cherry tomatoes and a pinch of sea salt.

  • Bake the Pizza Slide the pizza into the preheated Blaze Pizza Oven+ using the peel. Bake for 3–5 minutes, rotating once halfway through, until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.

  • Finish and Serve Remove the pizza and top with fresh basil leaves and a light drizzle of olive oil. Slice and serve hot!
