Ingredients

  • Freshly ground espresso beans (about 14-16 grams for a double shot)

  • Water (preferably filtered)

Directions

  1. Prepare the Espresso Grounds: Measure about 14-16 grams of freshly ground espresso (about 2 tablespoons). For the best flavor, use fine-ground espresso beans. Make sure the coffee grounds are not too coarse or too fine for optimal brewing.

  2. Fill the Water Reservoir: Remove the top lid of the bella Steam Espresso Maker and fill the water tank with the correct amount of water. For a double shot, you will need about 2 ounces of water (or to the marked line on the tank for a double shot). Use filtered water for a cleaner taste.

  3. Add Espresso Grounds to the Filter Basket: Remove the filter basket from the portafilter handle and fill it with the espresso grounds. Use the tamper to gently press the grounds into a firm and even layer. Place the filter basket back into the portafilter handle and secure it tightly to the espresso maker.

  4. Place Your Espresso Cup and Brew: Position your espresso cup or small mug under the portafilter spout. Turn on the Bella Steam Espresso Maker to start the brewing process. The steam pressure will begin to brew the espresso, extracting all the rich flavors from the grounds.

  5. Brew Your Double Shot of Espresso: Allow the espresso maker to brew until you have about 2 ounces of espresso in your cup (a standard double shot). This will take around 3-5 minutes. The perfect double shot will have a rich crema on top – that beautiful golden-brown foam that gives espresso its signature look and flavor.

  6. Serve and Enjoy: Once brewed, your double shot is ready to enjoy! Drink it as-is for a pure espresso experience or use it as the base for your favorite coffee drinks like a latte, cappuccino, or macchiato.

Tips for a Great Double Shot:

  • Grind Freshly: Always use freshly ground espresso beans for the best flavor and aroma.

  • Use the Right Grind Size: Ensure your espresso is a fine grind but not so fine that it clogs the filter.

  • Preheat Your Cup: Pre-warming your espresso cup with hot water can help maintain the temperature of your double shot.

  • Milk Frothing Option: If you want to add frothed milk, use the steam wand on the bella Steam Espresso Maker to create creamy, foamy milk for lattes or cappuccinos.
