Ingredients
1 large onion (yellow or white), cut into ½-inch thick rings
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 egg
½ cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
½ cup grated parmesan cheese (optional, for extra crispiness)
Cooking spray or olive oil spray
Directions
Prepare the Onion Rings
Peel and slice the onion into ½-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
Set Up Breading Stations
In a shallow bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
In another bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk.
In a third bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese.
Coat the Onion Rings
Dredge each onion ring in the flour mixture, making sure it’s fully coated.
Dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
Coat it in the panko breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to help the crumbs stick.
Air Fry the Onion Rings
Preheat your bella 4QT Slim Air Fryer to 375°F for 3 minutes.
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
Arrange the coated onion rings in a single layer in the basket. (Cook in batches if needed.)
Lightly spray the tops with oil for extra crispiness.
Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
Serve & Enjoy
Remove the onion rings from the air fryer and serve them hot with ketchup, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.
